Privacy Policy — Bound Together

Bound Together ("the App") is published by Casey Pelton. This policy explains what data the App collects and how it is used.

Data We Collect

• Account information: your display name. We use anonymous authentication — no email or password is required.
• Book club content: club names, member lists, invite codes, reading progress, chat messages, discussion posts and replies, book nominations and votes, and your ranked shelf of finished books. This content is stored in Google Firebase (Firestore) and synced between members of your clubs.
• Profile photo (optional): if you add one, it is visible to members of your clubs.
• Device push token: an Expo push token so we can send you notifications about club activity. You can disable notifications in your device settings at any time.

How We Use Data

• To create your account and sync your book clubs across your devices.
• To send push notifications about messages, new books, and club activity.
• We do not sell your data, show ads, or use your content to train machine-learning models.

Data Sharing

Your book club content is visible to the other members of each club — that is the purpose of the App. We share data with our infrastructure providers (Google Firebase for storage/auth, Expo for push delivery) as needed to operate the service. The App includes Amazon affiliate links for purchasing books; if you tap one, Amazon's own privacy policy applies to that visit. We do not share data with advertisers or data brokers.

Data Retention & Deletion

Your data is retained while your account exists. To delete your account and data, contact pelton.casey@gmail.com and we will remove your user document and club memberships within 30 days. Content you contributed to shared clubs (e.g. messages) may remain visible to other members.

Children

The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest by our providers. Firestore security rules restrict each club's data to its members only.

Changes

We may update this policy; material changes will be announced in the App. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
